Company News ::: Telemark TVP CryoTrap Information  January 2010

We now have extensive Telemark TVP CryoTrap unit information on our site, including instruction manuals, electrical schematics, and brochures. Please be sure to check out our Datasheet Section for the latest specifications on these up and coming Polycold alternatives.

As a certified reseller, we also carry Charges and Top-Offs for the Telemark TVP series CryoTraps.

Moving on to a slightly different subject. We just recently updated our Polycold unit specification and pricing section. Greatly expanding upon the full load operational parameter information, and adding a bit of Polycold unit development history. This is a must see for anyone interested in knowing what performance to expect from their Polycold, and also gives a good idea of what should be seen in a particular customer's cryopumping application.

The units we have listed, are the ones that we normally refurbish and sell, and cover most of the typical applications. Units that specifically go through our Re-Manufacture process, have all the latest M&T Systems developed incremental improvements, giving performance and reliability that rivals even the newer Polycold series units. Please check out the Polycold Unit Information section to see what we have to offer.

Company News ::: New Clamping Device Prevents Leaks  June 2009

Say NO to Leaks!

Getting tired of having to constantly chase leaks on your Parker coupled lines and coils? Are you going through so many Top-Off Charges that its got you thinking of buying in bulk?

With our new Parker Locking Clamp you can kiss those days goodbye. This new patented locking device slides over the Parker couplings, and then locks them in their tightened position so that they wont ever back off, or leak again.

Does not require pre-installation before the couplings are soldered to the lines, thus making it ideal for retrofit situations.

For current pricing; go to our Parts page, and you'll find it listed under the "Couplings and Lines" section (Parker Locking Clamp p/n MT-1025).

Company News ::: New Evacuation Valve Retrofit Assembly  December 2008

Have you noticed a problem with the evacuation valve stem on newer units getting easily rounded off?

Has this caused a problem with opening or closing this valve?

Polycold switched over to a different style (silver colored) valve about 10 or so years ago. Why? We can't say for sure, although it is strongly suspected that it was for cost reduction reasons. Anyway it appears that the valve stem material on the new valve, is much weaker than what had been used on the previous valves. And it really doesn't take much to round it off.

If you have one of these newer valves, and are experiencing problems when opening or closing it due to a rounded off end, then we have a solution for you. It is called our "Evacuation Valve Retrofit Assembly" (p/n MT-0924).

This assembly replaces the OEM "silver" evacuation valve, with an M&T Systems custom machined brass manifold, and a high quality brass angle valve. The new brass valve is very similar to what was used on the older Polycold units, and is every bit as reliable.

The assembly was designed to virtually drop-in, and be easily installed into the Polycold's utility panel utilizing the original mounting screws. To facilitate this; a slight modification of the center thru-hole on the utility panel will be required (increase hole diameter to 9/16"). This can be easily done with a Unibit Stepped Drill Bit (use our Unibit Tool p/n MT-0218).

To complete the assembly; a pre-installed 1/4" copper line with a swaged end, enables connection to the system piping. Thus providing a simple copper-to-copper brazed joint to complete the installation.

To cure your evacuation valve problems; be sure to order our Evacuation Valve Retrofit Assembly today!

For current pricing; go to our Parts page, and you'll find it, and the Unibit Tool listed under the "Misc" section.

Company News ::: New Improved Oil Control Package Developed  September 2008

You've tried everything short of buying a new unit, to try to get reliable 24/7 operation out of your aging Polycold unit. How many times have you had the XUJ cool solenoid valve replaced? How many times have you needed to get the lines, and the unit flushed for oil? For some people, and some applications, this is an all too familiar nightmare.

What's the solution?

M&T Systems studied this problem for quite some time. And initially we came up with a retrofit which seemed to work for some applications, but there were others where it hardly made a difference. We continued to do our research, and out of this research came incremental solutions, each one adding a bit more reliability. We had also known for some time that the new Polycold '02 series units (e.g.; PFC-1102) seemed to be working better in some of these same problem applications. We knew that the main difference between a PFC-1100 and a PFC-1102 was in the enhanced full-flow oil separation that was being used as a standard part of the '02 series units. So we improved our Oil Control Package to include an M&T Systems version of this same full-flow oil separation concept.

As can been seen in the diagram to the right, this new Oil Control Package incorporates two, series-connected, coalescing oil separators into the main output of the compressor circuit. In combination; these oil separators will virtually strip all the oil from the refrigerant stream before it has a chance to enter the auotocascade heat exchangers (the unit's "stack"). If the oil is prevented from going much beyond the Polycold's compressor, then the reliability of the overall system is improved many times over.

The complete Oil Control Package, or "the works", would include the new dual full-flow oil separation, and all of our incremental improvements (High Reliability Refrigerant Charge Blend, and High Miscibility Synthetic Oil Replacement).

Check out our Oil Control Package in the Services section for more details.
